- An OMS community of respect, with zero tolerance for bullying.
- Raise funds to support the World of Difference program.
- ADL’s World of Difference Institute - Peer Training started in Sept 2010
- Three Faculty leaders, along with 30 Peer Leaders from 7th and 8th grades trained and then lead activities in the 6th grade clusters.
- Peer Leaders attended the New England World of Difference Youth Congress in Boston in 2011,2012, and 2013
- Peer Leaders presented to Arlington’s Superintendent and School Committee in Spring 2011.
- May 25, 2011: OMS kicks off assembly featuring the Marcus Santos drummers and Rob Jones, a dynamic speaker. 6th graders are given the chance to apply to the Peer Leader program.
- Gay/Straight Alliance created at OMS in Spring 2011. Students learn about LGBTQ issues and discuss ways to make the school safer for all students.
- Peer Leaders trained in August 2011 and ready to begin training the 6th graders at OMS during 2011/2012 school year.
- Michael Fowlin returns to OMS for a powerful presentation on 10/17/11.
- December 2011: Peer Leaders and teachers/guidance counselors attended StandUp 2011 - a program for middle and high-schoolers and teachers across New England to take a stand against all forms of bullying. Created to educate, motivate, and empower young people to stand up to bullies and help create a culture of non-tolerance for this behavior.
- Peer Leaders invite Michael Fowlin to return to Ottoson for another great presentation in June of 2014.
- Peer Leaders organize an event with the African drumming and dancing group Bamidele in October of 2014.
