On Jan 23, 2013, former NBA player, Chris Herren, spoke to 6th-8th graders at OMS on substance abuse, cutting, and positive coping skills. His personal story of getting clean, and his message: “don’t be afraid to tell your story” inspired OMS students to speak up about their own concerns. OMS Guidance was available to speak with students and facilitate discussions throughout the day. Read more about Herren’s life and his “Project Purple” herehttp://www.theherrenproject.org/
